What will “ROI” stand for in the future? It will likely mean Return On Ideas. A new idea economy is being created around us at the speed of thought.
Shift happens. Businesses, institutions and, yes, even governments are going to have to adjust to a brave new world where people will not accept the status quo as satisfactory. People want a new perspective and a new reality. And they want it now. Winning organizations will be the ones that don’t wait for shift to happen to them. They will indeed be the initiators – they will innovate and become the shift disturbers in the idea economy.
Ideas that build will become one of the key value propositions in the future. The marketplace and “we the people” are already demanding that fresh perspectives and innovative solutions be brought to existing problems. Out of the box thinking will be table stakes. Out of the box thinking implemented effectively will win jackpots.
Ideas happen. Sometimes magically, sometimes through grinding. And since sparks can fly during a grinding process, ignition often results. That’s what we hope happens here in the Idea Exchange – that ideas are shared and built on in a positive collaborative environment. One of the new “P’s” of marketing (if you still believe in that concept) could stand for “participation.” The idea economy will be fuelled by imagineers riffing off each other’s thinking and wondering.
